The Bellefonte Art Museum for Centre County is located in the Linn House. The house, built in 1810 of Trenton Limestone, is listed in the National American Buildings Survey and on the National Historic Registry. The historic home was residence to many individuals and families who contributed to the growth of Bellefonte, Centre County and Pennsylvania.
The museum's mission is to showcase and sell works by local artists and to provide enrichment by showing art from around the world as well as art from our own community.
The Museum provides enrichment to our communities through free art shows, classes and cultural exhibits. Highlights include:
Special Exhibitions Gallery including works from China, Vietnam, East Africa, Haiti, Japan, South America.
Artist Registry that helps promote and exhibit art by 165+ local artists.
Underground Railroad exhibit - A Journey to Freedom commemorating a painful time in art and words, this new permanent exhibit remembers the role of our region in the operations of the Underground Railroad
The Makery at the Museum, a dedicated, delightful art studio on the second floor of the Bellefonte Art Museum. Families can enjoy free self-led art activities during the Museum's public hours.
Community, Pottery, Photography & Sieg Galleries showcase the works of different registry artists every month.
Print Gallery features high-quality prints by 2-4 artists and changes quarterly.
Art Library housed in the Photography Gallery, focuses on art history, artists, museum catalogs, how-to (oil, watercolor, pastel, drawing, etc.), and high quality children's art books.
Twiga Museum Store filled with fine handcrafted items created by our museum registry artists, along with a select group of artists outside Centre County. One-of-a-kind jewelry, ceramics, glass, fiber and fine art will be cycled through the store on a monthly basis allowing for a unique shopping experience with each visit.
24/7 Display Window, a glassed-in all seasons porch showcasing a variety of art and objects with illumination making it a place to see exhibitions on any day at any hour.
Established Endowment Fund through the Centre Foundation. Featured in the year-end Centre Foundation "Impact" magazine.
